Night Vision

looking at cars,
afar is mars
on par with diamonds are these
emerald stars.
memorable scars
through this life of mine
press rewind and intertwined is the shine.
rhymed with a precision to blind,
timed with the mind,
silver lined,
with a pine to cut through the hands of time.
buildings tower with power at this late hour
the streets filling with students milling, the air is chilling this cold day in November
chimes of laughter and fun filter through the city
covered by sirens like a blanket, smothered by violence
but recovering is the city's way, even through the desperate acts of tyrants.
New York in the dark, sparked at its heart by the night
the moonlight shines bright over the strife
