After April, this April,
the picture has changed.
Though it looks whole and finished,
one odd piece remains.
This piece of the puzzle
that won't quite snap in;
after countless attempts,
the edge is worn thin.
"ONE THOUSAND PIECES"
say the words on the box,
yet, this single piece causes
such grief with its loss.
Could it be this is piece
number one-thousand-one
who still holds a place
where the puzzle's begun?
What kind of a picture
would have an odd part?
---the picture that matches
the one in my heart!
