I have left you at the subway entrance for another night.

We talk a little before we kiss goodnight.

We both hope this will be over soon.

You remind me to go straight home.

Some nights I placate you, but tonight I am not lying.

As I walk briskly along the deserted sidewalk the cool wind blows the trees overhead.

The dark sky is a background for the eerie branches.

The leaves rustle over my head.

The clouds move faster in the sky.

I hurry home and lock the door.
