and "This is just the beginning!"
are words we often hear from those
it seems are always winning.
The ones who take the credit,
while sitting on their shelves,
for victories in leading roles
we've cherished for ourselves.
They're always coming out on top
and never seem to tire
of gains, which in our minds,
are vivid dreams of our desires.
They think they know our plight
and so they try to treat us tender,
but counseling words sound best
when coming from one who has been there.
