You sit there sipping the black coffee

thinking of all those times you laughed, you smiled

and you find yourself so far

so close but a million miles away

you're dizzy and confused, trapped and unforgiven

for you have lost the most precious of all

and you throw yourself into oblivion

the world lashes at you, each time a little bit harder

alone and bewildered you try to stand still

then you realize you only twinkle

up high, in the sky where they can judge you

vulnerable like everybody else

human like everybody else

and the pain takes over, and its too much to bear

but your eyes remain open today and tomorrow
