By now, most of the students are back to school with their new backpacks and fresh batches of school supplies. The old term is now a distant memory and a new term of learning has begun.

Writers are much like students. We spend a lifetime learning, whether we're honing our skills, trying different writing exercises, or digging deep within for that next brilliant writing idea. For writers everywhere, learning and educating ourselves just seems like a part of who we are. To celebrate this fact, the Write Spot has put together Issue 12. In this issue, you'll find how-to's and other educational pieces. Each ezine section features an article on learning, so take out your writing pads and start taking some notes!

Enjoy Issue No. 12... Happy learning!

On Writing: Fiction
How to Write a Short Story - Everybody knows writing a story is not easy. Like the drama or the poem, it is imaginative literature that should appeal to the emotions of the readers. Since it communicates the writer's interpretation of reality, there must be an artistic use of language to signify human experience. But how do we write a great short story? What are the things to keep in mind in order to come up with a short story that works?

On Writing: Non-fiction

On Writing: Poetry & Prose

On Writng: Film & Music

How to Sign With a Literary Agent
- If you're interested in publishing a book and gaining a market presence and income from it, you'll need a literary agent. They are the grease that keeps the oft-rusty wheels of publishing moving. Every day, they eat lunch or talk to editors and acquisition people in publishing houses all over the world, all the while pitching them on the new hot 'properties', as your manuscript will be called.

Promoting Yourself
Best Selling Book Secrets - You finally did it. You got that book written and published. But if you want to make sure your new baby is launched happily into the world, your work has just begun. Now, it’s your job to get it in the hands of the people you wrote it for! If you have a publisher to help, that’s great, but if you want to be the author of a best seller, here are a few tips.
