This poem is very simple in subject matter and style. Several have questioned the repeated use of the word "I've" at the beginning of each couplet. This was intentional. The idea of this poem, is for the reader to be able to own it, to get an idea of how to add from their own experiences in this simple style.

It is also to help us in our hustle and bustle to slow ourselves down and see what we have had in life that we may have given little thought. Enjoy the read, and I would encourage people to try making their own verses to their own poems from their own experience and share them with others who wish to do the same.

I’ve So Lived

I’ve jumped from a pony’s back
onto an overhead tree limb.

I’ve ridden top speed across grass
hills and plowed fields.

I’ve lifted my face to the clouds
with hands stretch out to grasp the wind.

I’ve run through the shallow water
of a muddy creek bottom.

I’ve caught a fish size of my arm
with a wooden stick pole.

I’ve driven a tractor for bailer and rake
then pulled rack for men to throw hay.

I’ve cooked great meals of country fair
with oatmeal cookies and chips.

I’ve walked the aisle on the arm of my Dad
to marry the man I love.

I’ve born three children and wondered
at their beauty above all other babes.

I’ve cut the umbilical cord of a grandchild
and cried with the parents over bruises and scrapes.

I’ve kissed grandchildren’s boo boos
and pulled a few teeth.

I’ve played on the floor with a puppy
and crawled like a horsy a child on my back.

I’ve so lived like a sparrow flying
and singing with joy in its heart.

I’ve still got more to give.
I’ve so lived. I’ve so lived.
