Four poems by four distinct and individual authors!

Leaving
by Sheryl Joy Olano

Departure pronounced, luggage
In a strong grip
An armor of unwavering doe eyes
And a splash of a frozen tight-lipped smile
Unmasked, an unwilling victim
Of change and time

A nagging thought, a refusal
For what she had to be
Mere wishful thinking, mere memories
In the twilight of her years
A face. A man of the brown eyes
To remain nameless in her lips
Seemed to shake her

A sigh of resignation
Burdened by unshed tears
Couldn't disguise
A little spark inside her
For another day

Yet, tomorrows in a foreign land
A promise unbound
A new beginning, a new life
All hers to take
Her mind could take her to places
But with him would remain her heart

Anorexic Cat
by Mags Alden

I'm prone to mood swings
because of that I have an anorexic cat,
my psychiatrist say's if I consume ten moccachinos
my moods swings will fade away,
she suggests I enroll the cat in an anorexic support group.

Sacred Heart
by Amber Whitman

Up the hill, in a box you will find my sacred heart.
It will be under a sycamore tree.
Open the box if you will.
However you can not touch it.
It has bled too many times.
It is frail and weak now.
My sacred heart lies within.
Open the lid and you will see.
A heart torn to pieces.
When will my sacred heart be free.
The day you learn to love me.

This is Us
by Krystle Kilcrease

I answer your call
"Do you miss me"
I sigh then stall
"Uh you miss me"
I already know what you're going to say
But the conversation gets better this way
"Yes I miss you. I miss you too"
I am lying in my bed
So many thoughts in my head
Should I tell you how I feel
Or should I just let it go & chill
"Could you hold on? Sure"
Those thoughts are now gone
Maybe they didn't exist all along
"Hello. Yeah. Can I call you back?
Uh huh
"The conversation is through"
But this is me & you
