As writers, we sometimes get down and out and get the "writer's blues". But cheer up because there's a way around it. Basically, you just need to know where to look.
All writers need a little inspiration. Inspiration is that spark you find to write. You’ll find it in your daily lives, in things you see, and in the places you go. But sometimes, you'll need to really think about those things to find that inspirational spark. It’s simple: when you can’t find things to get you inspired, you need to look at the things that make you happy, sad, awakened, and the things you see everyday. Basically, you need to create some inspiration from life.
You can start by thinking about the following five ideas. I’m sure you’ll be able to find something to write about. This is because the inspiration to write comes from what you know -- it’s a part of you. So if you dig deep enough you’ll find something to inspire your writing.
1. Places you’ve been and things you’ve seen are important. Really stretch your memory and think about the people you’ve met, the places, the events, and the situations you’ve been faced with.
2. People are very important because most people, especially the people you know, become those same objects you tend to write about. If it's not one person, then parts of several people you know. That is how dramatic and memorable characters are created. They’re made from reality and from real people that inspire you.
3. Experiences are another important part of our lives and a crucial part of our writing. Think about the emotional experiences; fear, sadness, and the happy times in life. Use experiences to find writing ideas.
4. Knowledge is where you’ll find the missing links, the information to make a story work, and the logic to fill in the gaps. The things you hear, read, learn, and gain all add to your own knowledge base and this is what you’ll put on paper. Bits and pieces of knowledge, emotions, and life experiences then become your story or novel. This is what makes it your own.
5. Spiritual, cultural, and religious touches to your writing comes from within. Pieces of you, and your beliefs, will go into everything you write. Personal beliefs and mornals are a part of what makes up your own unique style and that’s a key element to writing. Writing is a part of who you are and how you are, and that’s what makes your writing yours.
These five items are just a few ideas that can inspire you to write. I’m almost certain that you can add many more to this list. In fact, what you should do is consider these five points and add to them. Inspiration is given to us through the things we do. Really, our own lives are full of inspiration if we use it. So the next time you need some material or some pizzazz to write with, then think of the things that inspire you in life. |
