standing in the darkness
the sound of sirens in the background
afraid to open the door
afraid to see what's next
now you stand alone
alone in a crowd
surrounded by strange voices
and even stranger faces
too tense to move, to speak
you try to scream
but to no avail
the sound of sirens
cut through the silence
too afraid to move
too afraid to speak
waiting, watching, wondering
sirens and silence
is all you hear
