Written by Glenda K. Fralin

This poem is one that I wrote a year or so ago.  I have revised it several times and feel it is finally the message I want to deliver.  This poem is for the poets.

I wrote a song about a sparrow
a joyful tune was meant to be.
The singer thought it melancholy
and couldn’t see expressing glee

I spoke to the musician’s soul
this song is full of rapture
the sparrow is a humble bird
protected by God’s favor

I get it now, was his reply
I understand the tone
this song will elevate the clouds
the Sparrow Will fly home.

Dear poet you see, our eyes don’t match,
our ears don’t hear the same.
The reader will see the words they see
the hearer as they can heed.

Someone will say of your tune or prose
I get it -- I understand.
But, dear poet you don’t decide
what their heart will hear or see.
Your pencil in hand - write on dear friend.
The words belong in the Poet’s pen.
