waiting for november 5th

so sick and tired of all the bitter campaigning and the nasty stuff being thrown around. i am just waiting for november 5th. i don't care who wins..at this point i think obama and mccain both are missing the point on the economy and health care. who ever wins i just hope that the person will take time to learn, understand and then take action-unlike bush who never bothered to understand any issue.

Changes in Turkish Secularism

From the NYTimes

"In most Muslim countries, that would be a nonevent. In Turkey, it was a rebellion. Turkey has built its modern identity on secularism. Women on billboards do not wear scarves. The scarves are banned in schools and universities. So Ms. Yilmaz dropped out of school. Her parents were angry. Her classmates stopped calling her.

Like many young people at a time of religious revival across the Muslim world, Ms. Yilmaz, now 21, is more observant than her parents. Her mother wears a scarf, but cannot read the Koran in Arabic. They do not pray five times a day. The habits were typical for their generation — Turks who moved from the countryside during industrialization." More

Thank You for Your Contribution and Congratulations..Nobel for Medicine

Three Europeans Win the 2008 Nobel for Medicine

From the New York Times

"A German virologist, Harald zur Hausen, will receive half the award for his discovery of H.P.V., the human papilloma virus, according to the announcement made on Monday by the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, which selects the medical winners of the prize. The discovery led to development of a vaccine against cervical cancer, the second most common cancer among women.

The institute said the other half of the award will be shared equally by two French virologists, Francoise Barre-Sinoussi and Luc Montagnier, for discovering H.I.V., the virus that causes AIDS. Since its discovery in 1981, AIDS has rivaled the worst epidemics in history. An estimated 25 million people have died, and 33 million more are living with H.I.V." Source

I don't Mean to But..This Lady Needs Some EDUCATION!

watch another clip of Palin/Couric interview..better than watching the SNL version.reality is better..

it makes me sad that at a time when a woman could actually break the "marble ceiling" and be the Vice President, the country is stuck with a woman who is potentially worse than Dick Cheney-at least he had real experience(never mind the way he used it)..her experience is watching Russia from her roof top. good heavens!!

i hope that bail out plain fails and the government is forced to let these big fat cat banks just die. then they will realize the importance of REGULATION and LAWS. until then you might want to stock up on food, gas and other stuff u need..coz it will get really bad before things improve.
