Re:The Bard's Coffee Shop 2007 1st edition - 09/19/2007 Uh, nope. I ate it last week, while waiting for the rush. It got kinda quiet in here...

Re:The Bard's Coffee Shop 2007 1st edition - 09/19/2007 Got it, Antryg. Want it in Psst, right? "Hearing" it again still gives me the shudders - cannot imagine the experience itself.

You're out of dark chocolate, O Bardic One. You know you're supposed to keep a stash behind the coffee and another under the counter.

Have you checked your writespot email? I sent a piece in about 2 weeks ago.

Yes, darlin', I did. Nothing from you there. Nil, nada, zip, zilch. Did you submit it directly to the backend? If so, I'll have to go looking for it.

*sigh* WHY hasn't anyone invented an extra 8 hours or so of usable time in the day?

I sent it again under the subject heading "TRY AGAIN". I hope you get it this time.

Re:The Bard's Coffee Shop 2007 1st edition - 09/17/2007 Sorry about my spouting over the weekend. Nothing personal was meant by it. If there is something in the way of putting the thing together that would help you, I wouldn't mind giving my one, two punch, which may only be worth two cents.

I'm all for seeing you spout off about submission guidelines. Other publications won't look at a piece that is submitted improperly. I didn't mean to direct my remarks totally at you, but at whomever was taking any responsibility. You shouldn't have to bear it all.

Re:The Bard's Coffee Shop 2007 1st edition - 09/17/2007 Well, when I signed on here, one of Helene's and my dreams was to boost membership to 100 by the end of 2006. We just welcomed our 500th - and in a little over a year from my appearance. So in that aspect, we've done well.

But none of those people seem to understand that this is a site fueled by writers - BY THEM FOR THEM. A few (and you know who you three are) regularly submit goodies, and I so thank you even if I have been exceedingly lax about getting issues up.

The other items submitted clearly illustrate that people cannot or do not read submision rules -- which is troublesome and problematic since A) it indicates they're not likely to be published anywhere else due to the fact they can't be arsed to follow basic guidelines and/or B ) it means I have to re-categorize items because they're in the wrong place. That's time-consuming and downright annoying!

Now, I could get a little more in-your-face (politely, of course) and spell out the submission guidelines even more simply than Helene already has them - right on the front page where they'd be a bit difficult to miss. But then it takes up the space and time better reserved for other things. I could ignore the individuals who can't read the guidelines, return their stories, etc. to them with a polite but terse note to learn to read OR I could continue to bite my tongue and plod on.

I'm sick and tired of plodding.

Glenda, I know you're not levelling personal remarks. I, too, as well as Antryg and the Bard want to see this site flourish again. I know that Helene, wherever she might be, definitely wants that. BUT I've been very busy this summer and by the end of the day, the last thing I want to do is sit and correct people's mistakes *again*. And every time I picked up the pen, so to speak, my own writing tended to be a bit caustic - even for a Petunia piece.

So, I shall get my head back to a more pleasant mindset. I'm extremely busy right now working full time and getting ready for a local artisan's show (I'm a featured artisan for spinning! - go, me!) in Oct as well as a few other projects, but I will get the Oct 2 issue ready and published. I wish I could say there'd be one before that, but since I can't and won't be held to a promise I may not be able to keep, you'll have to settle for then . If possible, I'll get an interim issue up - or maybe just a "this is how you submit" piece.

As usual, ideas, comments and suggestions always welcomed. Chocolate scores major brownie points.

Re:The Bard's Coffee Shop 2007 1st edition - 09/17/2007 As the Aussies say, "No worries". Falcondance, the Bard and I would all like to see much more activity taking place in the forum. This could be a great place to share ideas, make friends and grow as a writer. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked out that way. It's strange to me that people who think of themselves as writers, don't want to interact. It leaves me with the sad suspicion that most are only vanity writers, just looking for others to read their works without interacting, taking constructive criticism or giving others their help and comments.

Maybe my view is wrong. Hopefully we will be able to change that or get new members more involved.

Re:The Bard's Coffee Shop 2007 1st edition - 09/16/2007 hi antryg, I hope you know what I'm talking about. I'm not trying to insult you or falcondance or anyone. Just looking for a spark, and hoping we can set something on fire.
