Re:How to go from Idea to Book Deal? - 01/12/2007 Hey JFG, Sounds like an interesting project you have going on. I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do, but in general, research would be the first step.

First of all, would these children be paid some sort of prize money for the essay? Think about that one.

Also, visit your local elementary school, or one that you attended as a child and talk to the teachers there. I know you don't want to tell anyone your idea at the risk of it being stolen, but speaking to teachers or even the principal is a good iea. Just tell them the basics without getting too specific, and offer the school some sort of acknowledgement in your book for their help and support. Besides, it might be the place to start collecting your first essays.

Good luck!

How to go from Idea to Book Deal? - 01/10/2007 I have an idea for a book that will consist of me collecting essays from elementary school children from various locations. I don't know if it's safe to share my idea because it could be stolen. So I have this idea... what are the next steps that need to be taken to bring this idea to fruition?
