It's kinda like going to the library. You can read the book at the library, but you have to check it out to take it home. When you're done reading, you have to take it back to the library to have it checked in.
Here, you write your pieces at WriteSpot.org (the library)... you start writing your piece (at the library). You hit "apply" a couple of times to keep yourself logged in... But this means that you've taken your "book" home and never brought it back to library! So to make sure that we receive your "book", you check in your items.... it takes everything that you've applied (but never saved) and sends it to us.
Unlike the library, we're much nicer. we won't charge you for late check ins. Although FalconDance might beat you up.
