I haven't done much ghosting online, but I have written quite a few things before the internet was in every building. I was acknowledged as the author, but in such tiny print, it might as well not been there. Most of it was training materials for companies or promotional materials. It would be exceedingly odd to come across that now, even in part (especially since those divisions of those huge companies no longer exist!)!
I'm not really sure just how I'd feel about it, though. Flattered that it was deemed good enough to publish globally. Peeved that someone else's name was on the work (originally it was only used in-house, so it didn't matter). A little upset that I didn't receive any royalties  .
