Writing a novel is hard work - but definitely worth the challenge! Congrats on your decision to write a novel.

To start, you can browse the fiction section of WriteSpot.org. Here are a few helpful articles that come to mind:

This one's called "Basics of Writing a Short Story". Although a novel is indeed different from a short story, the elements needed remain the same. It's a really great piece... very indepth and complete with links to other resources. I think you'll find it useful.

This one's called "Starting Writing Your First Novel". It will give you a few pointers on sticking with it once you decide to write a novell.
