Re:Are Poems Getting Too Sad? - 02/19/2007 Myself, I do not beleive poetry is getting sad. I just beleive that it is easier to share the good times more openly. If you are having a great life, you tend to want to share that information with others. Whereas if you are struggling with life on life's terms and have no one you can truely trust with this information ,poetry seems to be the easiest way, if not the most accepted means of communicating this. Face it, we all have issues that have at one point or another, alienated us ,even from ourselves. Putting them in print is a passive way of saying, "DOES ANYONE HEAR ME?" and "AM I ALONE IN THIS?"

Re:Are Poems Getting Too Sad? - 09/11/2006 I am not really into poems but from what I see, nowadays people are more realistic. Real life is actually depressing for some people and so, it's easier to express sad feelings than happy ones. However, it would be nice to have happy poems to motivate us and to give encouragement to struggle through life.

Are Poems Getting Too Sad? - 09/11/2006 I get to see a lot of poems in my travels online, and I've been noticing a trend - 90% of the poems I come across are dead depressing and I don't feel good after I read it.

What ever happened to happy poems or funny ones? It's getting more rare to see. Is it just the "in" thing to produce sad, tear-jerker, not-feeling-so good poems? Or are depression, anger, and sadness so strong that it's just the type of poems that people find thrilling to write?
